What does the beard represent in Islam?

According to the Sunnah, all Muslim men must grow a beard. This is reported in numerous hadiths, including the following:Ibn Abu Houreira(may Allah be pleased with them), the Prophet said: "It is part of thefitra(in other words, innate behaviors on which Allah created us) ofIslam: Friday ghusl, use the siwak, trim the mustache and let the beard grow.Certainly the Mazdeans (the polytheists who worship fire) grow their mustaches and cut their beards so differentiate yourself from them:trim your mustaches and grow your beards".

(Reported by Ibn Hibban and authenticated by Sheikh Albani in Silsila Sahiha No. 3123).

It is also a way to distinguish themselves from women and allows Muslim men to identify as virile.

Moreover, many Muslim men consider growing a beard to be an act of worship towards theProphet(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and allows one to draw closer to Allah.
